RACE TO THE TOP
Even though this is not an issue in Collier County,
where the superintendent decided that Collier would not
pursue this grant due to the probability of creating
strife within the workforce, this remains a major issue
around the state. We don’t know how this will end in
Florida, but it seems pretty safe to say that if Florida
wins some of this grant money and implements changes in
some districts, it could very likely end up on our
doorstep at some point anyway. Attached is a Technical
Assistance Paper from the Commissioner of Education and
a response email from FEA President Andy Ford. For even
more detailed information, the complete RTTT application
(don’t hit print unless you really mean it – it’s over
100 pages long!) and an FEA PowerPoint (21 slides).
